Sunny Sunday!

Good Sunday Morning!  It looks like its going to be a beautiful day here!   And, that's a great thing!

I completed 2 more doggy hats, and have started a new project.  The dogs have gotten really tired of me using them as models!  So, the pics aren't that great!  I'm going to have Mark hold them today so I can get a few more of them in their hats!

Hayden, was very uncooperative!
I just love these hats!

I started a new project, a baby romper.  I'm so excited to get it done.  If it only turns out 1/2 as cute as the pattern I will be happy!  I am wanting to get some new and different things made and get them out in my stores!
Speaking of different, I ordered the supplies last week to try the tutu dresses!  I can't wait to get the supplies and create one.  I just love how cute they are, and think they would be awesome photo props, party dresses, flower girl dresses, or just used for dress up!  What little girl doesn't love dressing up as a princess??  Here is a link to a site that makes them!  These pictures are such an inspiration to me!  Now, if I only had a granddaughter to make on for!  (*I really don't think my son in law would approve of me  making one for my grandsons... LOL )  Check it out, and please leave me a comment as to whether or not you think these would be items someone out there in cyber land you know would be interested in!

I'm off to grab the hook and yarn, and finish creating my romper outfit!  I'll keep everyone posted on the progress.

Before I go, I want to share one final picture... I took this picture last night of the neighbors cat, TJ, modeling my Froggy hat!  It's just too funny not to share!

One or Two for the Dogs!

I am so tickled with what I created last night!   I finally attempted the Doggie Hat pattern, and created this for Miss Maddie!
She looks so adorable in it.  Don't you think?
Actually Mark says she looks really ticked off at me!  LOL!  Well, I couldn't stop with just the frog, so I created her this one:

I plan on trying to run some sort of special on my items, through my facebook page.  Just not sure of the details yet!

Let's Go Shopping!

Sorry I haven't posted anything for a few days.  I have been super duper busy!  Not only have I been crocheting like crazy, but I have opened 3 online stores.  The first one is my etsy store, and you can go to etsy.com and search for MeeMawsCraftyCreation,.  I am having issues getting the etsy store link to post, so until I figure it out, then just search for scooby doo on etsy, and it will take you to my shop.  I will post the link once I get it figured out.

Second is my zibbet store.  It is located at zibbet.com, and the link is:
http://www.zibbet.com/meemawscraftycreations
And finally my Artfire store it is located at artfire.com and the link is:

I have completed several slouch hats, and have 2 character hats in the works.  Below are the slouches:
This one is done in the Vanna's Choice, Charcoal.  I love it!  And, Chelsea is the proud owner of it now!
This is one of my favorites.  It is a lightweight summer slouch, and is crocheted in a bubble stitch.  It is made using fingerweight, very thin yarn.  (Or sock yarn as some call it)  Both this hat and the above hat are $18, plus shipping and handling.

Chelsea and Robin brought out Baby Mason to visit yesterday!  What an awesome surprise.  Here the cute little guy is in his John Deere Baby Cocoon!

And check out how handsome he is in his little "aviator" hat!
How precious!  I loved getting to see him, his mommy, and his MiMi!

Todays agenda will be to finish my 2 character hats.  Then I am going to try the Posh Puppy Hat that has been brewing in my head!  My list of items to do for my stores is growing daily!  I am excited to be on this journey.  I think what makes it much more exciting is that my beautiful daughter Kayla is going on this journey too!  And, it's so awesome to share this experience with her!

Check out her blog at:
and visit her on facebook:

Off to grab the hook, yarn, felt and doll hair to finish up my hats!  Keep checking back to see what I've created!

Surprise revealed!!!!!

I finished the surprise hat last night... and it's none other than......
Mr. Potato Head!

He is complete with a 3D hat and 3D ears!  He sells for $20, and can be made to fit sizes newborn thru adult.  In fact all of my hats can be made to fit newborn thru adult.
I also finished another slouch hat.  I love this yarn, this color is called "orchid tweed".
I have another surprise hat in the works!  Can't wait to share it with everyone.  I am hoping to get it done today, and post pics either this evening or tomorrow.  Keep checking, I think you'll like this one!

Today is the Daytona 500!  I will be sitting on the couch with hook and yarn in hand creating!  Here's hoping for a safe, and exciting race!

Sunny Saturday!

It is another sunny day!  But, don't let the sun fool you, it's rather chilly outside!   I finished my order for the dishcloths/scrubbers!  Here's how they turned out:
This one is country red, pink and brown.  The picture doesn't really show the colors that well.  And, the second set is:
These are country red, yellow, and a country twist!  Again, the picture doesn't show the colors very well.  And the final set is:
Peach and Black!  Pretty cool colors I thought!

All dishcloths are 100% cotton, and durable.  Both the dishcloths and the scrubber can be thrown in the washer to clean.  The scrubber cannot be put in the dryer, but the dishcloths can!  I can make these in just about any color!  I have a bunch already made up, so if you're interested I am selling these sets for $12 plus shipping and handling.
I'm waiting on the fallout from my facebook post about people ordering and not picking up or paying.  I am trying to make a small business out of this.  I hate being rude like that, but geez.... I'm sitting on over $100 worth of orders right now.  That's just ridiculous.  So for future orders, payment must be made within 48 hours of placing the order, or the order will be canceled.  I do offer a layaway plan, just email me at meemawscraftycreations@gmail.com and I will give you the details.
I am also considering enforcing that all orders will be mailed, regardless of where you live.  That will be a lot less headache for me I believe.
Before going out to dinner and drinks last night, I started another slouch hat.  I just had to try some of the new yarn that I bought this week.  I am loving how this yarn works up!  I will post pictures as soon as I get the hat done.  I am also going to finish the "surprise" character hat!  Only one person knows what it is, and she better not give it away!  Here are a few pics of the awesome yarn I picked up this week.  (I have a yarn addiction for sure!)

I absolutely love the above yarn, and cannot wait to create with it!   I get so excited about the simple things in life!
Well, I'm off to grab the yarn and hook, and finish what I've started.  Plan on spending the day on the couch crocheting, and watching the Nationwide Series Race in Daytona!  Tomorrow is the Daytona 500!!!  And I am so excited!  Let's go racing boys!!!!!!!

I have an addiction!!!

They say the first step in "recovery" is to admit you have an addiction!  I actually have two, and I'll admit it!  I am addicted to yarn and to pj's. Example: Yesterday, I had to run to Walmart to get a birthday present for Mark.  While there, I went to the yarn aisle to grab ONE skein of dark brown yarn.  I then, laid my eyes upon some awesome colors of Vanna's Choice, and my head began to spin.  "These yarns would make awesome slouch hats"  the conversation in my head was just beginning!  I grabbed these
Not just one skein of each... oohh noooo!  I had to have 2 of each!  Then I moved on to the Simply soft yarn... and just had to grab a few colors that I didn't have!  Oh my!  I walked out of walmart with 13 skeins of yarn!  Did I ever mention that I have 4 LARGE tubs in the basement full of yarn?  Well, I do! But, in my defense I didn't have any like what I bought. I am in love with this Vanna's choice though, especially this one
Oh, and this one too!  (hehe)

Then while leaving, I walked by the Valentine's Clearance!  Oh no Again!  They had pajama's for $5!!!  I LOVE pajamas!  I have more pajamas then I do clothes.  I know, that's sad!  But, I pretty much live in pajamas during the day and night.  (Oh the joy of being a stay at home wife!)  So, I just had to purchase 2 sets.
There!!!!  I've admitted my addictions.  Whew, that was easy!

I received my first order off of my Facebook page!  Thank you Carolyn H!  For being the first to order Carolyn will receive a special surprise in her order when it ships.  For now, the "surprise" hat has been put on hold until I complete Carolyn's order.  (Customers come first!)
Today I am running to Crafts 2000, to grab a couple of things of yarn for this order!  Yes, more yarn!!!  I told you I have an addiction!  Now to just try not to go overboard!  Because what did I see in their ad?  Vanna's Choice on sale!!  Hopefully, I can control myself!

It's going to be one of those days.....

Today is my wonderful husbands' birthday!  And, my nephews' birthday!  So Happy Birthday to Mark and David Paul!  But, today is also a sad day.  One year ago today, a dear friend lost her brother from an IED in Afghanistan.  Let us not forget to thank daily our soldiers and their families for all they sacrifice for this country! Both are true hero's in my book.  The soldier for risking his life, and the family for supporting his decision to do so!  Say thank you to a soldier, a veteran, and their family today!

I finished my 2 hats for my grandsons.  Austin requested a "Jack the Skeleton" hat
Not a very good picture, but I had camera troubles this morning.  Wyatt got a "Little Devil" hat.  His mom swears that he is a devil!  I don't think so, I think he should have had a halo!  Here's his
I have started a new character hat.  I'm not going to reveal the name of this one until it's done!  It's going to be a surprise!  Can't wait to get it finished and posted.

I went to take pictures of these hats this morning, and my SD card for my camera kept coming up "memory card locked".  I got to looking and the little "lock" slide on my card was broken off.  That bites, so I had to take the one out of my digital photo frame to get these.  I guess I'll be adding a new memory card to the shopping list.  UGH!  When the pictures downloaded, of course it downloaded all of them that were on the memory card, and I had a little trip down memory lane with my coffee this morning.  It was bittersweet, but I can't think of a better way to start my morning, then to see my Mom and Dad loving life!  Below are a couple of the "Old" favs that I found....
This has to be my favorite picture of them of all times!  They were so young, and so in love!  Ahh... brings tears to my eyes, and makes my heart ache!
This is Kayla with my mom and dad at Myrtle Beach!  My mom would kill me for putting up a picture of her in her bathing suit!  But, I had to... this shows exactly what awesome grandparents they were!  Not to mention what GREAT parents they were!
This is how I will always remember them!  We had such great times on family vacations!

Enough reminiscing... I have decided that I will NOT take anymore hat orders until payment is made.  I hate being like that, but I have been left no other choice.  If you want to order a hat, email me with your order, and your mailing address.  I will then invoice you thru paypal, and you can pay me.  If payment is not made within 48 of order placement, then order will NOT be completed.  I am also considering no longer doing the "pick up".  After doing a lot of research, I think I will start mailing all items.  I can do this cheaply, with a first class mailing costing around $2, and Priority $5. (as long as order does not weigh over 13 oz) It will be a lot less headache for me (maybe a headache for the mailman, but not me!).

Watch for upcoming items.... of course more hats!  Diaper Covers/Soaker sets, more cocoons, and will be trying before long a tutu!  Also have an idea brewing in this head of mine for hats to fit your cats and dogs!

Off to finish the grocery/shopping list... and then to crochet on my newest creation!  Keep checking back for pics of the new hat!!!!

To Do, or Not to Do.....

Good Tuesday morning!  At least I'm hoping that it continues to be a great morning.  I am up and moving again way too early for my internal clock, but refuse to lay in bed when there are ideas running through my head at lightening speed.
Yesterday I started 2 hats, one for each of my grandsons.  I should have them finished by lunch, if I don't spend too much time playing online!  Now I'm trying to figure out where I want to go from there.  I am dying to make a Diaper Soaker Set, and a Diaper Clutch.  So, that may be the way I go.  Something new and different!  BUT, my oldest grandson Austin said his little brother (Wyatt) needed a Yoda hat!  So, maybe MeeMaw will do that one.  I also am wanting to do a little girls "Cape set"... or as we called them when I was young, a poncho!  So many ideas, so much yarn.... yet so little time!
My facebook page is set up and hopefully I will get some orders off of it.  Once I get up and running at a good pace, I plan to start offering sales etc. Check it out, it's MeeMaws CraftyCreations on Facebook.
I hope to update later this afternoon/evening with pictures of my grandsons' hats.
Until then.... give me some ideas of what  you would like to see me do!
I can turn this:
into this:
Get the idea?

It's a Cloche'

I spent the day yesterday, you guessed it.... crocheting!  The latest creation is called a cloche' hat.  I made this one out of 100% cotton, and attached a bright pink Gerber daisy to add some "bling".  I love how it turned out!
This hat in the picture is made to fit a 3-6 yr old.  It sells for $15 plus s/h.  I can do any color, multi colors, and can use different embelishments.  I don't have many Gerber Daisies at this time, but I will be getting more, I can tell you that.
I also made 2 more grey slouch hats, one for a friend Tracy, and one for my daughter Kayla.  I will be doing a Jack the Skeleton hat for my grandson Austin, and a Little Devil hat for my grandson Wyatt.  Also, will be doing a black slouch for my youngest daughter Kourtney.  After completing that I am going to go back and start doing some more character hats.  Just not sure what I want to do next, hence the making of different hats.

A Slouchy Saturday?!?!?!

Well, it's Saturday morning, and a crappy one.  I went to bed last night with another migraine, first one in about a month.  But, a horrible one none the less.  Woke up this morning with the after affects, which are not pleasant.  I did manage before the migraine got too bad to finish another slouch hat yesterday.  These hats are so cool and so quick to work up!  Here it is:
This hat was made from my huge "stash" of yarn that I discovered yesterday is dwindling.  Although, I then discovered that the tubs in the basement were getting empty because I am now carrying it upstairs when a project idea hits me!  According to my husband, I need to quit doing this!  But, he'll get over it. This yarn is called "Marble".  It has 2 or 3 shades of grey, some light pink, and some light purple in it.  I love how it worked up.  This hat is made to fit a 22" head circumfrence.
This picture shows the back of the hat with the colors.  The purple doesn't show up too well, but maybe that's a good thing.

Slouch Hats!

I finished up my slouch hat for Angie, and then had to just try another one!  I love them both, it's too bad I don't like to wear hats.  I love how these turned out.

This one is done in a Heather Grey.  If anyone's interested in one, let me know what color and your head measurements and I will do one.  They sell for $18 (plus s/h if applicable)
Here's the second one I did, it's done from an offwhite Fisherman's Wool.  It's a different pattern, with a bigger "slouch".  It too is $18 (plus s/h)

Next up to crochet, well.... while digging in the one of many tubs of yarn I have for the Fisherman's Wool, I ran across a couple of other skeins of yarn that I think would make awesome Slouchy hats.  So I plan on finishing sewing Dora's hair on her head, (especially since I heard that the little girl I made it for will love it so much she will probably sleep in it) and then making at least one more slouch hat before I move onto creating another hat.  I'm thinking it's time I try one with a big ol' flower!

Another Day, Another Hat!

Good Morning!  I am once again up and at it way too early for my liking.  I am excited this morning though, I finally finished the Dora hat.  It was rather time consuming, but I love how it turned out.  Each strand of her hair is attached individually and then sewn into the hat for stability.  Here she is:
I still need to go back and finish slip stitching the hair to the hat.  But, I had to put her down for a little while.  I was getting really sick of her hair.  LOL!!!  I started a "slouch" hat for my friend Angie last night, it's in heather gray, and is working up really nice and really quick.  It sure is different crocheting something like that after doing all these character hats.  I had to keep reminding myself to read the pattern, and not just do it from my head, because I kept doing the character hat pattern!  OOPS!  Oh well, hopefully will have pictures to post of it later today or tomorrow.
Now what to start after Angie's hat?  Give me suggestions!  I may try a Sponge Bob.  I found this amazing site online that is doing these hats for dogs!  I am sooooo going to try one. Anyone want to take bets as to whether or not Maddie and Hayden will model for me?
Before I close for the morning, here's another picture of the lovely Miss Dora

What Morning!

Once again, I was awake and in the kitchen pouring coffee before daylight.  I'm really not liking that!  But figured that I would make the best of it this morning.  I didn't get much crocheting done yesterday, as I worked on our stinking Income Taxes most of the day.  I don't understand why the IRS cannot write the instructions in plain, laymans, terms.  After 2 calls to the IRS, and tons of research I was ready to enter online.  Just out of curiosity I entered the returns on 2 different free sites.  ONLY, to have both sites give me different refund amounts.  What the Heck?  So I put it away for the evening, and once again this morning dove back into the entering of information.  I finally got the numbers to match, and don't ask me how.  So taxes are complete!  Now send me my money I have yarn to buy!!!  LOL
Unfortunately I have no new pictures of hats to post, as I am still weaving hair on the head of Miss Dora the Explorer.  I am hoping on having her done this afternoon.  So keep watching to see pictures.

Way Too Early!!!

For those of you who know me, I am NOT a morning person.  But for the last 2 weeks, I have been awake and moving before the sun even came up.  I don't know what's going on with me.  I wonder if it's a sign of getting old?  I prefer not to think that, I prefer to think that it's because of the excitement of what I will create today!  Sounds better anyways!  I was up and at it at 6:00 a.m. this morning.  So far, I have redesigned my blog, gathered up and started laundry, and am on my 2nd pot of coffee! (well, actually my darling husband only left me 1/2 a pot when he left for work, so it's not 2 full pots!)
I am happy with the way that the "dora" hat is coming along.  It's moving very slow, since I am attaching her hair one strand at a time.  Here are a few pictures of what I have done so far:
Now you can see what I mean by time consuming.  Earlier last week I designed and crocheted a baby "cocoon" or "pod" for one of my best friends daughter.  I wasn't going to post it, but since she is in the hospital right now giving birth to what I am sure will be a handsome little boy, I decided to go ahead and let everyone see it.  I can make these in any color, cartoon character, theme, or any animal.  Here is the John Deere inspired cocoon:

Just to give you an idea of what I can make for your wee one to be swaddled in I'll post some pics of other cocoons I've made!
This is an adorable little Giraffe!

A sweet little lamb!
A snuggly little Bear!
Little Miss Lady Bug!
And last but not least, a cute little Snowman.  He comes complete with a scarf, and a 3D nose!
The cocoons sell for $25-$30, depending on the difficulty of the one you want!   Use your imagination and I will create your little one a custom cocoon and matching hat!
I have so many ideas going through my head that I want to create!  There are so many that I have created a notebook with pictures of cartoon characters that I want to make into hats, and possibly cocoons.  If anyone wants to "challenge" me to design one, I'm up for it!  I am also going to try making the tutu dresses with matching hats at some point.  I'm also thinking of doing crocheted character "capes" or poncho's.  The ideas are endless.

Monday, Monday!

It's another cloudy, cold Monday here and after of weekend of not getting any crocheting done, I am looking forward to spending the day on the couch with my hook and yarn.  But, first it's off to the new endocrinoligists' appointment, and then I will be free for the rest of the day.

I did manage to finish a couple of hats on Friday.  They are for my great-neice Kali!  I think she and her mommy will like them.  I also will be starting a Dora the Explorer hat today, it's a custom order.  And have a request to do a tutu and a hat to match.  So I will be checking out some photos of the tutu.

Here are Kali's hats:

This little Lady Bug is different from my last one.  She has a felt face, sewn on wiggle eyes, and felt spots.  She is also sporting 3D antennae, and believe it or not, she is also supporting 3D eyelashes!
This one, my neice wanted a bumble bee, but she wanted it to match Kali's coat which is purple.  So this little creature I am calling "Kali's Love Bug".   She has a felt face, 3D antennae, and just like her counterpart Miss Lady Bug, she has 3D eyelashes!

Hope to have more to post tomorrow!  Now it's off to the doctor.
